The axatse (pron. ah-ha-cheh) of the Ewe people of Ghana and Togo is of a type
of netted gourd rattle found elsewhere in West and Central Africa under various
names, including jabara (Mali) and shegbureh (Sierra Leone). The axatse or
similar rattle appears to have given rise to the Haitian asson and the
Brazilian afoxe.

My version features blue and yellow pony bead strikers, which are strung onto
white netting.
