Bamboo Flute - Minor Pentatonic (suitable for improvisation, meditation and relaxation)

A beautiful handmade four-hole bamboo flute, tuned to a minor pentatonic
scale, with a range of 2 octaves. It has a rich tone particularly suited to
meditative and relaxation playing.

The pentatonic minor scale is widely used in western and world music. It is
melodic in itself and impossible to play out of tune when playing solo. With a
little practice it is possible to play many flavours of music, from jazz to
oriental.

As a natural product, each bamboo flute will look unique and will have its own
individual tonal character.

The flute is crafted from cured moso bamboo. The aim has been to produce an
instrument in which the fine tone and timbre is matched by the beauty of its
appearance. The bore is machine sanded to ensure the complete removal of the
node wall (important for tuning and stability). Unlike most bamboo flutes, both
the mouth and finger holes have been hand finished to ensure maximum comfort
and ease of playing. The bamboo is flame decorated and sanded in multiple
stages to a high smoothness. It then undergoes a two-stage beeswax and buffing
process to produce depth of colour and a high gloss finish.

The flute is capped with exotic wenge wood. The waxed hemp binding adds to the
beauty of the instrument but also helps to protect it against splitting.

The flute is around 16.5 inches in length and is suitable for most hand sizes.
The finger holes are around 11mm in diameter.
