Civil War buffs can immerse themselves in the competing tunes that rallied the
Union and Confederate causes, as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings "Songs of
the North & South."
These 1860s vocal numbers were released on vinyl LP record in 1961 -- the
100th anniversary of that cataclysmic American conflict's start. Familiar tunes
include "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "Motherless Child" and "Dixie,"
augmented by less well-known songs long-ago harmonized in support of either
army.
The record's back cover is packed with information on the history of both the
Mormon choir and the Civil War that broke out soon after the legendary group
was formed. Also included -- the original record's two-sided lyrics sheet.
The second LP in this deal, "Stephen Foster Songbook," collects the most
beloved tunes by that celebrated 19th century all-American composer
(1826-1864), played in lush orchestral arrangements. Classics like "O Susanna,"
"Swanee River" and "My Old Kentucky Home" are joined by other historically
popular compositions. (Be sure to understand them as artifacts of a bygone era
when you encounter songs such as "Massa's in the Cold Cold Ground.")
Both LPs are in outstanding condition!

All of our vintage vinyl finds are expertly wet-cleaned, and returned to their
jackets inside new inner sleeves. (If a record was found with a custom inner
sleeve, we'll include that, too.) They are spot-played to ensure no overall
listening problems. Due to the nature of vinyl, a few occasional pops/clicks
may remain from a record's previous years of service. We strive to find these
vintage artifacts in the best condition, but at the lowest prices, to give you
affordable fine listening. With proper care, these records should provide many
more decades of enjoyment!
