This Elk medicine gourd rattle was handmade by me. After sanding the gourds
surface I dyed it using a Walnut ink dye. I then used red and black acrylics to
paint the hoof prints and the details inside them. The Elk on the front was
drawn on using a colored pencil. My intent on doing that was to convey the
"Spirit" of the Elk. I wrapped the handle using red deerskin lace and tied on a
carved bone Elk tooth and a Turquoise chip on both the front and back. At the
end of the handle I secured a piece of black leather which I have hand cut the
fringe, and added red pony beads and 7 Pheasant feathers. I chose the number 7
to represent the 7 directions. The seeds make for a very nice sound. This is a
larger rattle measuring a total of 13" long. The fringe and feathers hang an
additional 10". Sealed, signed, and dated. Props not included. Thank you for
