The jabara of the Bambara people of Mali is of a type of netted gourd rattle
found elsewhere in West and Central Africa under various names, including
axatse (Ghana and Togo) and shegbureh (Sierra Leone). The jabara or similar
rattle appears to have given rise to the Haitian asson and the Brazilian afoxe.

Our version features yellow pony bead strikers, which are strung onto black
netting.

Dimensions: 12" h., 7" diam.
