Mary Martin was Broadway's midcentury musical queen. From "South Pacific" to
"The Sound of Music" and beyond, the lively Texas native (1913-90) charmed all
of America. We've bundled 4 of her top shows here, in superb vinyl quality.
(That's not easy to find. These LPs often got played to death.)
Martin was a national star because Broadway was then a national stage. TV's
early years of the 1950s were broadcast from New York, so stage songs were
often featured on variety shows like "Ed Sullivan." These were also the initial
years of long-playing albums, when original cast LPs provided hit songs for
radio and nightclubs.
"South Pacific" is the giant hit that made Martin's career. "Peter Pan" was
another smash, which she performed on NBC TV, extending its family-friendly
popularity. Martin reunited with composers Rodgers & Hammerstein to launch "The
Sound of Music" on stage (before Julie Andrews did the movie). And she paired
with "Music Man" sensation Robert Preston to depict a marriage in '60s
two-hander "I Do! I Do!"
Need just one or two of these shows? Soon we'll post additional copies for
individual purchase. But this bundle price can't be beat!

All of our vintage vinyl finds are expertly wet-cleaned, dried, and returned
to their jackets inside new inner sleeves. (If the record was found with a
custom inner sleeve, we'll include that, too.) They are spot-played to ensure
no overall listening problems. Due to the nature of pre-loved vinyl, a few
occasional pops and clicks may remain from the record's previous years of
service. We strive to find these vintage artifacts in the best condition
possible, but at the lowest prices, to provide affordable fine listening. With
proper care, these records should provide many more decades of enjoyment!
