WELCOME TO MY AUCTION

ATTENTION! In last days I made some improvements in instruments (trompette,
more correct key position, better wheel turning mechanism, and some other
detail changes), so in details instrument may look a little bit different, but
in visual there are only small changes.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT

This instrument is inspired by medieval hurdy gurdies. There are two melody
strings ("chanters") and you can play on them using keys, and two drone strings
which sound constantly and make this specific bagpipe/hurdy gurdy sound. The
instrument is in fairy-green colour.

The instrument is in chromatic scale which means that every higher key is like
higher fret on guitar. If you can play on guitar, you can easier understand
this instrument. A chromatic keyboard is better than a diatonic keyboard,
because you can play in more than one scale. The instrument has 24 keys which
is the most popular number of keys in most of hurdy gurdies.

The instrument is tuned in octave. In this model I used steel strings with
nylon core. They are quite soft and easy to stretch which allows you to tune
instrument not only in "main" tunning. For me it was near gg (196.0 hz) for
melody strings and DG (146.8 and 98.0 hz) for drones. You can also tune the
instrument in other ways, if you change the strings. Strings are available to
buy in any music shop.

Please, take into consideration that the instrument is not professional
luthier work but craftsman amateour work with all visual and mechanic
implications. I made it for hobby, learning or to play in amateour bands, not
for professional use. The instrument is hand finished. The instrument is not
reconstruction of particular medieval one but only inspired by medieval
instruments. Photos and recordings show model, not particular instrument which
you are buying (it is the same quality and look, with small changes due to hand
making).

Instrument does not include strap from photos.
Our instruments are made to order with up to 8 weeks waiting time (+shipping).

SHIPPING

Shipping costs are:

65 € to Europe (EU)
120 € to USA

I can send the instrument to any (almost any) place in the world (ask me about
shipping costs, but usualy it is no more than 100€).

I do not take responsibility for import duties, please take that into
consideration (I am sending the package as "musicial instrument" and "e-shop
product" in description)

MAINTENANCE

The instrument has first setting up done before packing (woll is added on
strings, wheel was covered with rosin and height of strings on bridge was
regulated with stripes of paper/plastic) and should be ready to play just after
unpacking and tunning (strings are loose because of security reasons during
shipping). Please, remember to check if woolen rollers are properly rolled on
strings (it may change position/unroll during shipping). Please do not take off
plastic stripes under bridge, if they are there (they regulate height of
strings on bridge and pressure on wheel). Please, remember that every hurdy
gurdy need setting up from time to time (changing wool on strings, adding rosin
on wheel, sometimes set correct height of strings on bridge).
