This is a 1946 first printing of a songbook, A Treasury of Stephen Foster with
a foreword by Deems Taylor, a composer and writer. Historical notes are written
by John Tasker Howard, the foremost authority on Stephen Foster and
illustrations are by William Sharp. The piano arrangements are by Ray Lev and
Dorothy Berliner Commins, leading concert pianists of the time.

The 49 illustrations are in two colors and are nicely wrought; the frontpiece
is in four colors.

The dust jacket has a couple of tears and clearly shows that the book was
well-used. Except for some wear at the corners, the book itself is in good
condition.

These treasures are culled from my many collections amassed over 40 years -
and my husband is an antique dealer so between us, there is quite a range. Stay
tuned as many more things will be posted in the months ahead.
